76084 Locomotive Company Limited was nominated for the Heritage Railway Association's John Coiley Award for Locomotive Restoration in 2016 alongside other worthy locomotive projects.
Having returned to steam and traffic in mid-2013 to receive an award some years later does seem a little strange. But since returning to traffic the Company has worked tirelessly to raise the necessary funds to equip our locomotive with the three technologies needed for main line running. We have also performed extra engineering work to ensure 76084 is robust enough to withstand the rigours of running at sustained speeds AND performed the necessary light engine and loaded test runs in order to have 76084 re-registered for main line running.
In round numbers to achieve this a total of £100,000 has had to be found.
This not insignificant sum has again been raised from our 200+ shareholders over a 2 year period. The Company hereby acknowledges the huge effort of all concerned and thanks those shareholders who share the Company's vision of returning 76084 to the main line.
The Heritage Railway Association in making this Award to us also acknowledge the extra mile the 76084 Locomotive Company Limited have gone to in putting a Class 4MT onto the national network. The Company are indeed pleased that the industry body for preserved railways should consider us worthy of this Award.
